Department Philosophy

The Craft & Technology Department oversees students’ learning in four key disciplines: Art, Design & Technology, Music, and Nutrition & Food Science. Our mission is to foster students’ creativity, innovation and practical skills, and equip them with the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to excel in these fields. We are dedicated to helping students discover their passions, engage in authentic examinations of the world around them, and recognise their unique value to others. Our department offers a supportive and stimulating environment where students can pursue their interests, hone their talents and prepare for a successful and fulfilling career.

Signature Programme

LVSS Kaleidoscope

LVSS Kaleidoscope is a biennial showcase of student talent and passion in the visual, culinary, literary and performing arts. First held in 2024, the inaugural event was packed with excitement, featuring performances from our dance, drama, and symphonic band CCAs, along with a scintillating performance from the school’s pop-rock band, The 8th Continent, and Music students. We also had a lively poetry slam, an exhibition showcasing stunning artwork, live mural drawing in action, and culinary stations serving up delicious treats. It was a true feast for the senses!

Art, Music, Design & Technology and Nutrition & Food Science Enrichment Programmes

Our school offers a variety of enrichment programmes that complement and enhance the formal curriculum. From vibrant art, music, and dance workshops for all lower secondary students to the Performing Arts-based Learning Journey for Secondary 2 students, there is something for everyone. Secondary 3 Art students collaborate with guest artists on special projects. Additionally, Secondary 3 Art, Music, D&T and NFS students enjoy industrial learning journeys and workshops to get a firsthand experience of how their learning in craft and technology subjects can be applied in the workplace.

The Spotlight

To be launched in 2025, The Spotlight programme is our talent development programme for students with a passion for art, music, and performance. It brings together our ongoing efforts to nurture and elevate students’ talents in these fields. Those in The Spotlight can look forward to an exciting three-year journey designed to help them build technical confidence, master their craft, and communicate powerfully—both through words and their art, in the process discovering and expressing their own unique creative voices.
